Mason was a problem solver, and a strong willed one at that. As a baby he'd figure out how to get around baby proofing. As a child he'd find obstacles a challenge that needed to be overcome. His heart was one of those obstacles. He refused to lie down and allow it to rule him. He was bound and determined to get the most out of life and, as his parents, we simply needed to provide a safe way for him to do that. His focus and drive was inspiring. He was adventurous, loving, logical, and emotional. He was always concerned about the depth of his friendships because he longed for that connection. He loved his brother, Robert, with strong admiration and loyalty. He was competitive with him, but there was no rivalry. He simply wanted to connect and bond with his brother by being just as good, and usually better, at something his brother was interested in. As a teen, he was so focused on his education that we all assumed he'd become something great. I had no doubts that he'd solve some world problem or create music that touched the heart of millions. He was capable, understanding and considered things deeply. The world is worse for his absence and he will be sorely missed by those who knew him. But, I beg you, please count yourself among the blessed because you knew him.
