Melvin is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Kay Bennett, his daughter, Cheryl Crawford, sons, Michael and Steven Bennett and grandchildren, Katie Crawford and Adam Duarte.
He was the son of the late Verna and Allan Bennett. He worked for many years as an industrial engineer before retiring in Huntington Beach, California.
He was born in Downey California, on June 26, 1938. He graduated from Downey Senior High school in 1957. Melvin married Kay Powell in 1960 in Downey and had lived in Huntington Beach since 1965.
Melvin enjoyed Grand Prix sport car and NASCAR races on TV, every weekend. In his younger years, his passion was playing tennis and sailing.
He was a gentle, kind person who loved animals and his family.
Services will be at Westminster Memorial Park Mortuary in the Main Chapel. Thursday, May 9, 2024 at 12:00 noon.
