It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert Allen Coker, affectionately known as "Bobby," on December 23, 2024, in Westminster, California. He was born on December 30, 1952, in Phoenix, Arizona. Bobby lived a life full of love, laughter, and music, and his spirit will forever remain with those who knew and cherished him.
Bobby attended Hill Elementary, Jordan Middle School, and Bolsa Grande High School. In 1971, he met Elva at a friend's house, and they shared many years together. He was a proud father to two daughters, Angela and Rhonda, and a father figure to two beloved dogs, Sydney and Bear.
A machinist by trade and a painter by passion, Bobby was a man of many talents. He was known for his kind and generous nature, his ability to tell captivating stories and jokes, and his love of playing the guitar. Music was a constant in Bobby's life, and he loved all genres—especially jazz—and enjoyed attending festivals. He also had a passion for learning, particularly about the solar system and the mysteries of the universe. He spent many hours watching the Discovery Channel, forever curious about the world around him.
Bobby never met a stranger, always offering respect, kindness, and a helping hand to others. His old soul and compassion for people, especially the elderly, were defining qualities that endeared him to everyone he encountered. He was also known for his carefree spirit, often walking barefoot and finding joy in the simplest of things.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Andrews, and his sisters, Marilyn Kuykendall and Marion Abraham and brother-in-law John Kuykendall. Bobby leaves behind his daughters, Angela and Rhonda; his grandchildren, Richard, Alexandria, Briana, Priscilla, Sarah, Ariana (Reggie), and Emmah; his great-grandchildren, Leilani, Isabella, Scarlet, Serenity, Ethan, Elliott, and Lively; his bonus grandsons, Eddie and Timothy; as well as his sisters, Dodie (Bruce) Singer and Sandra (Larry) Green, and his brother-in-law, Abe.
A service for Bobby will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at 2:30 pm in the Westminster Memorial Park Main Chapel with a graveside service to follow in the Garden of Meditation.
Bobby's love for his family, his music, and his life will be forever remembered. He was a man who truly lived with love and kindness, and his legacy will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him.
