

Los Alamitos, California – Victor Uebel was born in Dover, Ohio to Victor and Helen (Patterson) Uebel. Victor was the great-grandson of Peter Uebel, a German immigrant and Civil War veteran who served as a member of the 80th Ohio Infantry Regiment and fought in the Battle of Jackson during the Vicksburg Campaign.
Victor attended Fenn College in Cleveland, Ohio until the outbreak of the Korean War when he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. Victor was selected for Officer Candidate School and after graduation, served in the Korean War as a Navigator on a B-29 Bomber. Victor was a member of the Strategic Air Command (SAC) during its early years in the 1950s providing Strategic Nuclear deterrence. Since his college education was interrupted by the Korean War, the U.S. Air Force sent Victor to the University of Michigan to complete his B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering. Victor later received an MBA and an M.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering from California State University-Long Beach (CSULB) and later taught night classes in Engineering at CSULB.
Victor retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1970 at the Los Angeles Air Force Station. After his military retirement, Victor served as the Director of the Department of Applied Physiology at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Long Beach, California.
In addition to his parents, Victor was predeceased by his sisters Caroline and Nancy. Surviving is his daughter Victoria Cross (Jeffrey), his son Richard Uebel, his son Michael Uebel, his son James Uebel (Heather); two grandchildren, Derek Uebel in Sturgis, SD and Shane Uebel in Anthem, AZ; one sister Doris Clements and many nieces and nephews.
Victor will be remembered by all who knew him for his inquisitive mind, intelligence, and his loving and steadfast support for his family.
A Funeral Service for Victor will be held, Friday, December 9, 2022 at Riverside National Cemetery, meet at 11:30 am. See order of service below:

12:00 – Drive to Committal Shelter where ceremony takes place (committal shelter is located away from the gravesite).
