Doreen was predeceased by her parents, Clarence & Elsie Scott; husband, James McMann (1970) daughter, Pansy (1963); son, Forrest (1990); siblings, Gordon (Edna) Scott, Bill Scott, Margaret (George) Cummins, Mildred (Ken) MacPherson, Alice Scott, Dora Delmage and son-in-law, Bert Gibbs.
Doreen was born in June of 1926 on the farm in the Silverwood District near Wapella, Saskatchewan. She worked hard all of her life, first at home, when she had to quit school at a young age to help with her younger siblings and with farm work and then when she married her husband, Jim. She milked many cows over the years-she loved her milk cows. Doreen raised chickens, turkeys, pigs and cattle. She always had one or two gardens. Jim passed away in 1970 leaving her with six children to raise. She didn’t even have a driver’s license at that time. Shortly after Jim passed away, the farmland was rented out and the family moved to an acreage just outside of Colgate. Everyone was thrilled to have a furnace, indoor plumbing and running water. Doreen continued to milk cows and raise chickens and turkeys. She moved into Weyburn shortly after her 80th birthday. It was a huge adjustment for her as her heart was always on the farm. In 2020, she had to move into Weyburn Special Care Home, where they cared for her with great love and compassion. Doreen enjoyed reading, doing word searches, watching any kind of curling on TV, getting mail and playing any kind of game.
