
Douglas Lloyd Knoblauch of Griffin, Saskatchewan passed away at the Regina General Hospital on Tuesday, January 12th, 2010 at the age of 76 years. Douglas was predeceased by his parents, Reinhold and Magdalena Knoblauch; his wife, Gladys; two sons, Andy and Bruce; his brother, Arnold; his sister, Mona and a granddaughter, Julie.
Douglas will be lovingly remembered by his five children, Barry (Bev) Knoblauch of Griffin, SK; Gloria (Ken) Pichie of Weyburn, SK; Doris Rowe of Blackfalls, AB; Rhonda (Bob) Gillis of Red Deer, AB; Wayne (Lisa) Knoblauch of Griffin, SK; grandchildren, Tammy (Blaine), Sharlene (Jon), Michelle, Laura, Joel, Stephanie, Cody, Melanie, Sarah and Ty: great grandson, David; brother, Mel (Vi) Knoblauch of Griffin, SK; brothers-in-law, Roy (Winona) Anderson of Weyburn, SK. and Bill (Theresa) Anderson of New Denver, BC; sister-in-law, Betty Knoblauch of White Court, AB as well as many nieces and nephews.
Douglas Lloyd Knoblauch was born April 30th, 1933 at Shaunavon, Sask. to Reinhold (Ron) Knoblauch and Magdelena (Lena) Rathgeber. He attended school in a one room school house near Shaunavon. On March 23, 1953, Douglas married Gladys Anderson at Griffin, Sask. They lived in Shaunavon until 1956 when they moved to B.C. while Doug worked with Oil rigs for a brief time. They moved back to Griffin, where he farmed for the rest of his life. Anyone who knew him, knew of his wonderful mechanical ability. He very much enjoyed camping, fishing, playing cards and spending time visiting with family and friends. He also enjoyed playing music and travelling to musical festivals. He served as Reeve and Councillor for the R.M. of Griffin for many years. He was a very good listener and lots of patience. He had a very good sense of humour and always had a grin on his face. Doug enjoyed farming and continued to do so until his passing.
Funeral Services were held on Friday, January 15, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. from Grace United Church, Weyburn, Saskatchewan with Rev. M. Barnabas officiating. Interment followed in Griffin Cemetery, Griffin, Saskatchewan. The Active Pallbearers were: Joel Rowe, Cody Knoblauch, Dwayne Anderson, Darwin Knibbs, Ken Gill and Todd Sprecken. For friends so wishing, donations may be made in memory of Douglas to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Arthritis Society of Canada.
