

Hazel Mildred Kelley passed away at the age of 95 on Tuesday, August 2, 2011at Weyburn Saskatchewan. She was predeceased by her parents Peter and Mary Pederson, her husband Frank Kelley, brothers & sisters, Olga (Clarence) Ostad, Melvin (Frieda) Pederson, Arnold (Ethel Rose) Pederson, Henry (Nina) Pederson, Mabel (Martin) Peterson and Marton (Flo) Pederson; brothers-in-law, Jim & Daryl Kristensen. Hazel was born in Talmage. Saskatchewan on August 17, 1915 and was the last surviving member in a family of eight children, five boys and three girls, born to Peter and Mary Pederson. She began and completed her elementary and high school education in a one room rural schoolhouse in Talmage. Hazel married Frank Kelley on June 11, 1936 in Talmage and lived on a farm east of town for most of her life. Her life as a farmer’s wife kept her busy doing yard work, gardening and raising four children. Hazel also helped with the planting and harvesting of the crops. She had many other interests as well. Hazel loved to garden and grow many kinds of flowers. In her free time Hazel enjoyed music, curling, sewing, reading and watching Blue Jay’s baseball. Her love of music and ability to play both the piano and organ was enjoyed by many at the Talmage United Church at Sunday Services. She was also an active member of the United Church Women’s group. In 1998 Frank and Hazel retired from the farm and moved into a house on 14th street in Weyburn. Hazel was a member in the Weyburn Horticultural Society. After her husband died in 2000 Hazel remained in her house until 2003 when she moved into Crocus Plains Villa. The staff and residents became her extended family until her passing at 95 years of age. Hazel loved her children and adored her grandchildren and great grand children. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Carla Kristensen of Weyburn, SK; son, Ray Kelley of Weyburn, SK and his children, Colleen Kelley of Ottawa, ON and her children, Justine and Morgan, Jim (Deanna) Kelley of Saskatoon, SK and their children, Mason and Marissa, Jeff Kelley (Trina) of Red Deer, AB and their children, Olivia, Hannah and Megan; three daughters, Shirley (Clarence) Dorsch of Calgary, AB and their children, Terry, Rick, Brad and his son, Michael, Diane Bender (Gary Morttier) of Gleniffer Lake, AB, Joan (Wayne) Gent of Sundre, AB and their children, Juanita (Don) Roos of Edmonton, AB and their children, Jason and Kelsey, Cindy Gent of Red Deer, AB; Linda (Carman) McLeod of Weyburn, SK and their children, Darin (Leona) McLeod of Saskatoon, SK and their children, Brandon, Keaton and Morgan, Shelly (Chad) Baudria of Weyburn, SK, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. A Funeral Service was held on Friday, August 5, 2011 at 2:00PM from Fletcher Funeral Chapel, Weyburn, Saskatchewan with Reverend M. Barnabas officiating. Interment followed in Hillcrest Cemetery, Weyburn, SK Pallbearers were, Darin McLeod, Jim Kelley, Terry Dorsch, Rick Dorsch, Brad Dorsch and Michael Dorsch. Donations in memory of Hazel may be made to the Alzheimer Society.
