

January 31, 1924 – June 25, 2011
With great sadness we announce that our beloved mother, Johanna Van de Weyer passed away peacefully at the age of 87 at Parkway Lodge in Weyburn. Mom was born in Oostrum, the Netherlands and immigrated to Canada in 1948 three weeks after marrying Peter. They worked as domestic farm help near Beinfait, and then Lampman before finally purchasing farmland at Halbrite in 1952, then retiring to Weyburn in 1984. Mom is predeceased by her husband Peter, her father Bernard Van den Berg, mother Maria, step-father Piet Cuppen, brothers Handrie and Fritz, two sons, Bernard and Anthony, a daughter Mary, and three grandchildren. Mom leaves to mourn two brothers Wim and Lowie; nine children, Ann Scott (Don) of Weyburn, Rietta Van de Weyer (David) of Vancouver, Frank (Doreen) of Halbrite, Peter (Wendy) of Jaffrey, Elizabeth James (David) of Asquith, Teresa Balon (Mark) of Regina, Paula Murphy (Shawn) of Vancouver, Tony (Leanne) of Weyburn, and Judith Packet (Larry) of Davidson; 21 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. A deep appreciation is extended to Dr. Paszkiewicz and the staff of Parkway Lodge. Prayers were said at Fletcher’s Funeral Chapel, Weyburn, Saskatchewan on Thursday, June 30 at 7:00 pm and a Funeral Mass was celebrated Friday, July 1, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church, Weyburn, Saskatchewan with Fr. Gerry Bauche celebrating. Lunch followed at McKenna Hall. Interment will be at Halbrite Cemetery, Halbrite, Saskatchewan. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Weyburn & District Hospital Foundation.
