Stanley was born to Russ and Dorothy McFadden on October 15, 1950 and had a special place in Russ’ heart being the only son of 10 children. Stan was born and raised on the family farm near Weyburn and was involved with the farm at an early age. He enjoyed being out in the field helping his dad and harvest was his favourite time of year. Stan attended North Weyburn School, Queen Elizabeth and Weyburn Collegiate. Towards the end of his school years he started one of his first jobs working for his brother-in-law at the local Texaco. On July 19, 1969 he married Myrna. Together they had six children. Sons Norman 1970, Trevor 1972, and daughters Annette 1972, Karrie Lynn 1974, Tanya 1975 and Tobi in 1976. Over the years he gained two daughters-in-law Ronda and Lisa and three sons-in-law Marlon, Jeff and Clay and nine grandchildren Kyle, Tyler, Jerred, Jami, Justine, Ayden, Nikki, Kailyn, and Renee. In 1975 Stan and his family moved to the farm where he continued to farm and raise his family. During his farming years he continued to work off the farm at various occupations including the Weyburn Seed Cleaning Plant where he enjoyed visiting with all the farmers that would come in. In addition to farming, Stan enjoyed being behind the steering wheel of an 18 wheeler working for Marvin Larsen, Giroux Bros., and Grainbelt Transport. In 1998 Stan got to fulfill one of his lifelong dreams, to go custom combining down in the United States with his son Trevor. In 1996 Stan moved to town and his son Norm and daughter-in-law Ronda moved out to the farm. Stan loved being out at the farm and helping in the field and with calving, up until his passing. In recent years Stan was the Custodian at Knox Presbyterian Church from 2003 to 2009 and the Weyburn Health Center starting in 2004 to present. Stan especially enjoyed working at the Health Center, so much so, he would go in early some days just to get some good natured ribbing in on the Doctors and receptionists before they left for the day. He always said they treated him like family and some thought of him as a big brother. Stan enjoyed many things in his life. One of his highlights was being in the delivery room for the birth of his first grandson, Tyler. He also enjoyed watching his kids and grandkids play hockey and ringette, driving the hockey bus, coaching boys hockey, spending time with his grandkids, leather work, listening to country music on the radio, reading, watching old western movies, going for coffee, and being an avid Saskatchewan Rough Riders fan through the good and bad years, even breaking a few radios along the way- but thankfully no TV’s! Christmas was always a special time for Stan as he enjoyed spending time at the big family gatherings. He spent countless hours assembling toys for his kids and was just as excited as they were, watching them open their presents Christmas morning. Decorating that farm was a special time with his kids where they spent many hours stringing up lights and making sure everything was perfect for the annual twinkle tour. AA was a very important part in Stan’s life and he developed many long lasting friendships during his ongoing path to recovery. Stan jokinly loved giving everyone a hard time and had a way of brightening up a room when he walked in. Stan was a wonderful Dad, Papa, Brother, Uncle, Friend and co-worker. He was loved by so many and will be dearly missed. A Funeral Service was held Saturday, November 12, 2011 at Knox Presbyterian Church with Reverend John Ferrier officiating. Pallbearers were Tyler Kwochka (grandson), Jeff Erb (son-in-law), Gord Hack (nephew), Gary Hack (nephew), Darren Halladay (Nephew), Rob Halladay (nephew), Stuart McLeod (nephew), and Matt Sanders (nephew). For family and friends so wishing, donations in memory of Stan may be made to The Weyburn Food Bank at the Salvation Army.
