

Alice Jane Young, of Arvada, Colorado, passed away in hospice care on November 21, 2024, at the age of 80. Alice was a strong and determined woman who will be remembered by all who met her. She is preceded in death by her husband, Harry Young, her parents Lynda and Avery Rich, and her grandparents. She leaves behind her children Allen (Eileen) Wade, and Shanda (Greg) Velisek, her grandchildren Sean (Ellen) Velisek, Stephen (Melissa) Velisek, and Marissa (Kevin) McCrea, her siblings Bill (Sheila) Rich and Debby (Doug) Murphy, and six great grandchildren that were the light of her world.
Alice was an extremely hard worker and spent the majority of her career as a buyer at the Cotter Corporation. In an industry and a time period where there were not a lot of women, she was successful and was able to support her family and even retire early. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and committed her life’s work to them. She was a faithful Christian and spent much of her life volunteering at her churches. Alice had a great love for world travel and had numerous adventures with family and friends; she was able to do this up until her last months with her most recent trip being to Spain and Italy with her children. Her favorite pastimes include bowling, bible study, playing games, puzzles and spending time with family.
Her life will be celebrated on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at 9:30 a.m. at Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary & Cemetery, 7777 W. 29th Ave in Wheat Ridge, CO with a reception following service. Her final resting place will be beside her grandparents at Crown Hill. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Heart Association or Logan’s Christmas Shoppe at Ascent Community Church.
