

Anita was born on March 17, 1936, in Rapid City, SD. Her parents, Theodore and Gladys Kuehl, moved their family to Storm Lake, IA during her high school years where they were professors at Buena Vista College. Her late brother, Bill, was an actor on Broadway and in Rome, Italy.
She was a host, producer and writer on TV programs at WGN-TV and WMAQ-TV in Chicago and at KYW-TV in Philadelphia. Her career included time as a senior Vice President t CONUS Communications in Minneapolis, MN, and as a Senior Vice President of Fox News Services in Washington, D.C. She also worked for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting helping to build an international infrastructure for shared television programming.
In the 1960s, Anita hosted and produced the children's television program Tree Top House on WGN-TV. She won a George Foster Peabody and an Emmy Award for her work there. She produced and presented The World Around Us, a morning variety show, in Philadelphia as well as a local high school trivia program called Challenge. Anita was often a featured speaker at community gatherings and hosted the annual Thanksgiving Day parade in Chicago during her tenure there. Her book "Women in Television" is a primer for women going into the TV business.
Anita graduated magna cum laude from the Department of Speech at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. She was the president of the Gamma Phi Beta Sorority.
Upon retiring, Anita volunteered in her community doing charity work in Evergreen, CO, and at a Lookout Nature Center in Golden, CO. She loved walking and hiking on trails wherever she was.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Gerald, as well as a daughter, son, brother-in-law, and two grandchildren. Her ashes will be spread along a favorite mountain hiking path in Colorado.
