The family migrated to the US from Naples on February 20, 1938 on the SS Conte III Savoia. They settled in Frederick, Colorado near the foothills.
Antonio attended Frederick High School where he excelled at baseball. He was a very good pitcher. He tried out for the Denver Bears and was sent to their camp, but ultimately made other decisions for his life.
Tony spent two years in the Naval Reserves and served on the USS Kenneth Whiting AV-14. He was stationed in Hawaii and upon his return, he began studies at UNC, and then CU Boulder for Geology.
It was then he met Donna Jean Lerew (Vos). They were crazy about each other and the rest is history! They just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in March of 2020.
Tony and Donna attended beauty school together and he went on to open his own salon in North Denver, as well as to manage a salon at Neusteter's in Boulder. He also had a Saturday hair show on TV.
He was a true entrepreneur and salesman. After a short hiatus, he began selling mobile homes, eventually opening Knight Mobile Homes and Troy Manufactured Homes. He owned and operated these businesses for many years which enabled he and Donna to do some real estate investing.
Tony also owned and loved to bet the race horses. He was a "Professional Gambler", loved his fancy cars, loved attending Bronco games, and cherished his "best friend" Opaleenie.
Every year he joined his buddies on trips to the Kentucky Derby, the Belmont, and Preakness Horse Races. Unforgettable times for all!
He and Donna travelled the world during their 60 years together. They shared 4 children, 6 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.
Tony was a bighearted, COLORFUL man. He lived life on his terms. He was the heart of his family and loved them fiercely! He was lighthearted, funny and witty to the end!
He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Tony was preceded in death by his son, Antonio, father and mother Vincent and Maria, sister Freda and brother Victor.
He is survived by his wife, Donna; daughters Tracy (Daniel), Kim (Tom), son Troy (Brandy), his uncle Carmine (Anna) DeSantis, 7 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
