On March 6, 2021, Art quietly left this world to join Thelma, his beloved wife of 30 years. Born on Valentine's Day in 1925, Art had recently celebrated his 96th birthday. He was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and was an avid fan of the Oklahoma Thunder basketball team. Art grew up during the Great Depression, the Dust Bowl, and Prohibition. He experienced some of the most troubled history of America through the eyes of a young child and teenager, living through many things by his wits. He became a wonderful storyteller, often talking about his life during those early turbulent years, while maintaining a great sense of humor. At age 19, Art was struck with polio, and his greatest regret was that he could not join the Army and serve his country. In Oklahoma, he was trained as a master hardwood floors mechanic. He came to Colorado 64 years ago with $100 he borrowed, so he could work here for two weeks, but he never left. He loved Colorado's mountains and became a big fan of the Denver Broncos.
Art lived a long, full life and is predeceased in death by his Wife, Thelma J. Worrell; Parents, Walter Daniel Worrell and Ruth (Terry) Worrell; Brother, Leslie Worrell; Sister, Bernice (Worrell) Dixon; Brother, Leslie Worrell; Sister Bernice (Worrell) Dixon; Daughter Linda Sue (Worrell) Lesher; Daughter Rebecca Miller; Son Tony Troutner ; Son Clyde Troutner; Granddaughter Christina Miller; and Grandson Joseph Troutner.
He is survived by 1 daughter; 1 son; 2 sons-in-law; 3 nephews; 8 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and 2 great, great grandchildren.
We are all sad to see him go, but as he recently told us, "You can't live forever..." We miss him already, but are glad he is now resting in peace with Thelma. We wish him Godspeed on his heavenly journey.
