BJ spent most of her childhood in Rockford before moving to Honolulu, Hawaii, as a young teenager. She was living there during the bombing of Pearl Harbor in 1941—an experience she spoke of often, sharing both the frightening and unforgettable moments of that historic day. Her vivid stories gave her family a rare personal window into history, and her strength through it all became part of her legacy.
Lovingly known as “Little Grandma,” BJ was the heart of her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, remembered for her quiet strength, comforting presence, and the deep love she poured into each generation. She had a sharp mind and a playful spirit—especially when it came to poker nights and family card games, where she proudly held the title of “Rummy Champion.”
She is survived by her daughter, Judy, and son-in-law, Jim; granddaughters Amy (Tyler), Kelly (Brian), Keri (Mike), and Becky (Tim); ten great-grandchildren—Trenten, Ray, Dylan, Aireana, Lucas, Ashten, Ava, Jacksen, Avril, and Leo; and seven great-great-grandchildren—Arian, Zyaire, Oaklee, Hudsen, Malani, Aria, and Aspen.
BJ leaves behind a legacy of love, storytelling, resilience, and laughter. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
A public burial ceremony will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery on Friday, August 22, 2025, at 9:30 AM, followed by a celebration of life at 11:00 AM at Crown Hill, with a reception to follow. All who knew and loved BJ are welcome to attend and share in honoring her memory.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages acts of kindness or shared memories in her name
