Bernadine Florence Helbok, 88, a resident of Longmont Colorado, passed away on Sunday morning January 18th, 2026, at CommonSpirit Longmont United Hospital, knowing she was deeply loved by her daughters. She was born in 1937 to Richard and Florence Steveson in Denver Colorado.
Bernadine was a 1955 graduate of North High School. She was married to the love of her life Emil Otto Helbok in 1956 and widowed in 1994 when he passed. She was the sixth child of ten, she had four sisters and five brothers. She was an avid homemaker between sewing, knitting, crocheting, and making some of the very clothes her seven daughters wore. She made many quilts and ceramics for her family over the years; many being displayed in their homes. She was very much a part of her children and grandchildren's lives living with several of her daughters and their children throughout the years between Colorado and Arizona. She was a proud Grandmother to 10 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She enjoyed bocce ball and quilting with friends while she lived in Lake Havasu City. Her nickname was Lizard while she lived in Arizona because she loved the sun so much and often drove around with the top of her car down even in 100+ degree weather. Bernadine enjoyed baking and cooking for her large family especially during the holidays when all 7 daughters and 10 grandchildren would get together.
She is survived by her children Yvonne Rendon of Colorado; Christine Hannaford of Arizona; Loren Eckhardt of Colorado; Kayleen Bernall of Nevada; Jennie Helbok of Colorado; and Mishael Helbok of Colorado. 10 grandchildren; Jeremy Dailey, Matthew Dailey, Myron Wilkerson, Jesse Eckhardt, Dustin Bernall, Curtis Bernall, Kyle Bernall, Taylor Elkins, Katana Blackburn, and Chandler Newton. Two great grandchildren; Layla and Braelyn. Siblings; Ken Steveson, Laverne Steveson, Kathy Nicklas, Elouise Mills, and Evelyn Erwin.
Preceded in death by her husband Emil Helbok, her daughter Karen Dailey, granddaughter Carol Wilkerson, and siblings Richard Steveson, Warren Steveson, Eugene Steveson, and Betty Jager.
