Betty Rose Field, a devoted mother, grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 91 on October 16, 2025, at her home in Denver, Colorado, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on May 8, 1934, in Trinidad, Colorado, Betty was the eldest child of Millie Duran and Joe Gomez. She was the proud big sister to Eddie and Sonny, and her carefree spirit was apparent from a young age. Known for her infectious smile and laughter, Betty had a way of brightening any room she entered.
In her early adulthood, Betty married the love of her life, Don, with whom she shared many happy years. Their story was one for the books — Don, determined to find his Betty, famously called every Betty in the phone book until he found the one who would become his beloved wife. Together, they raised two children, Debbie and John, and built a life filled with love, adventure, and laughter. Betty’s heart was deeply saddened by Don’s passing in 2005, but her fond memories of their time together remained a guiding light in her life.
Betty was a proud graduate of Primero High School, and in 1956, she fulfilled her dream of becoming a beautician after studying at Charles at Denver Beauty College. She spent many years working at Saks Fifth Avenue in Cherry Creek before retiring, but she never stopped finding new ways to bring joy into her life. After retiring, Betty spent her days doing the things she loved — yard sale shopping, dancing the night away at the American Legion, trying her luck in Black Hawk, and staying active with Zumba. Above all, she treasured the time spent with her family, particularly her companion, Ovidio, who brought her great happiness in her later years.
Betty's friends affectionately called themselves the "Golden Girls", with Betty often leading the charge on their fun-filled adventures. For Betty, the destination was never as important as the company she kept, and she cherished every moment with her closest friends.
Her legacy of love, laughter, and friendship will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She leaves behind a loving daughter, Debbie (Mike); grandchildren, Keith, Lauren (Benny), Michael, Chad, Dominic, Andrew, and Bryan (Zenaida); as well as several great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews who will miss her dearly. Betty is also preceded in death by her beloved husband Don, her son John, and her companion Ovidio, along with many close relatives and friends.
Betty was a woman who made life brighter for everyone around her, and her memory will forever be cherished by those who were lucky enough to know her. Her laughter, love, and vibrant spirit will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
A visitation will be held at Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary, located at 7777 West 29th Ave, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033, on October 23, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
A Recitation of the Rosary will start at 9:30 am on Friday, October 24 followed by Funeral Mass at 10:00 am. All guests are invited to a reception in the church hall following Mass.
Betty will be laid to rest next to her husband, Donald, in a private ceremony in Trinidad Catholic Cemetery in Trinidad, Colorado.
