Carroll Lavean Baker, 83, beloved brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Sunday, May 25th, at Lutheran Collier Hospice Center in Wheat Ridge, CO.
Born on July 31, 1941, in Brush, Colorado, Carroll was the son of Elsie May and Don Baker. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Gordon and Tommy.
Carroll is survived by his daughter, Wendy Baker, and her husband, Jon; their daughters, Kayla and Tara. Kayla is the mother of Kaden, Alleigh, Tinlee, and Paislee. Tara and her husband, Kamaron, are the parents of Cordelia and Evelina. He is also survived by his son, Tim Baker, and Tim’s wife, Susan, and their daughter, Kaitlyn. Carroll leaves behind his sister, Rosodae, along with many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Carroll lived life with a full heart and a generous spirit. He had a deep love for hunting, fishing, and cooking—passions that brought him both adventure and peace. He found joy in the simple pleasures, whether that meant browsing garage sales, attending auctions, or spending time outdoors.
Some of his happiest moments were around a campfire, deep in the woods on an elk hunt, or at his beloved property in Kremmling, Colorado. At home, he loved nothing more than sharing a good meal with family and friends. His warmth, humor, and kindness lit up every gathering and left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. Carroll also loved to watch western movies starring John Wayne, Chuck Norris, Charles Bronson and Clint Eastwood to name a few.
He especially cherished time with his family and his girlfriend, Marilyn, of Cheyenne, WY. Always eager to help—whether roofing a house or preparing meals for camp—Carroll was someone you could always count on. He loved the freedom of the open road, often behind the wheel of his Ford F-350, towing his camper and boat, embracing every adventure that came his way.
To honor Carroll’s life, a viewing will be held on Thursday, June 5th, at 12:00 p.m. at Olinger Funeral, Cremation & Cemetery in Wheat Ridge CO, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. and burial at 2:00 p.m.
Carroll will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
