Casey Jones, affectionately known as Case, Dad, Pops, GPa and Grandpa, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2026 in Lakewood, CO. He was a loved and revered Husband, Father, Grandfather, Son, Brother, Uncle and Friend.
Casey was a lifelong Coloradoan, born January 12, 1939 in Denver and raised in the small town of Haxtun, CO. He enlisted and served in the US Navy in his early years, stationed in San Diego and Guam. Upon his return to his home state, he graduated from the University of Colorado Boulder with a Bachelor of Science degree. Following graduation, he began his lifelong profession with the US Government General Services Division. Throughout his tenured career, he had significant responsibility, managing different departments, locations and employees – always leading with empathy and compassion for his colleagues at the Federal Center and beyond. Casey ensured every person he interacted with was valued and acknowledged, and he was deeply respected and revered by all.
Casey also had a deep love of sports, even from a young age – a loyal fan of the CU Buffs, Denver Broncos, Nuggets and Avalanche – plus any Colorado or neighboring division team. If it was on TV, he was watching. He also loved the activities his children and grandchildren participated in from fairy recitals, musical performances, and poetry readings to T-ball, soccer, basketball, lacrosse and all college sports events and games. If his grandchild was involved, he attended if he was able.
Casey is survived by his wife Dorothy, his three children Christine (Mitzi), Dave-wife Jenny and Steven as well as his six grandchildren - Madison and Case Donahue, Jayden and Marley Jones and Carson and Maxx Rodrigues.
More than anything, he will be remembered for his warm, friendly and ever steady presence. Dad, you taught us all to “just show up” and “stand tall” - your legacy and values continue with us.
We toast to you, Casey Jones, with a couple of cold red beers and slices of pie at Edgewater Inn Pizza.
