Catherine Gonzales

Catherine “Cathy” Gonzales, age 72, passed away on September 24, 2025, to be with our Lord and Savior. Cathy loved her family fiercely and would do anything for them. Her greatest joy was spending time with her beloved husband, Jose S. Gonzales, and traveling together. They would pack up their rain gear and hit the road for long motorcycle rides, telling the kids not to get into any trouble—and that they’d be back soon.

She was born and raised in Denver, Colorado. For 28 years, she worked as a dedicated machine operator at Keebler Co., where she met Jose—building not only a career but also lasting friendships and cherished memories. After ten years together, they were married on March 26, 1989, in the scenic beauty of Lake Tahoe, Nevada. Their union brought together their children: Kenneth E. Tunson (Debi), Clenton Tunson Jr., Monica Granillo (Pedro), Jose “Joe” Gonzales, and Michael “Mike” Gonzales—forming a loving and blended family.

Cathy cherished time with her family and especially enjoyed quilting sessions with her dear friend, Dolores “Dee” Castro.

She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Celina Fernandez and Joe Gomez, as well as her brothers Kenny Kay, Carlos Kay, and Arthur Fernandez.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Jose S. Gonzales; her children Kenneth “Ken” Tunson (Debi), Clenton Tunson Jr., Jose “Joe” Gonzales Jr., Monica Granillo (Pedro), and Michael “Mike” Gonzales; her grandchildren Trinity Richardson, Jaida Roberson, Tierra Tunson, Detric Tunson, Nia Tunson, Melissa Munoz (Ulises), and Antonio Granillo; and her great-grandchildren Sol Roberson and Alita Munoz.

She is also survived by her cousin Leandro “Lamo” Martinez, niece Danielle Payne, and nephew Matt Fernandez.

Cathy will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

A Funeral Service for Catherine will be held Tuesday, October 7, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary & Cemetery, 7777 West 29th Ave, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033, followed by a Graveside Service from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM.
