

Cheryl was born September 17, 1955 in Grand Island, Nebraska. Cheryl was adopted as Cheryl Ann Peterson 6 months thereafter to Kenneth Arnold & Marilyn Lucile Johnson Peterson. Ken and Marilyn were married for 7 years and no children were produced, so they adopted Cheryl. Cheryl has two brothers and one sister. The Peterson Family resided in Omaha, Nebraska and moved to several locations in Colorado. Cheryl attended school in Omaha, Fort Collins, Colorado; Evergreen and graduated from Arvada West High School. The Peterson Family were active in Westernaires Horse Riding at Jefferson County Fairgrounds and Cheryl’s horse was Blaze. The Peterson Family also snow skied most every weekend, took domestic and international vacations. After high school, Cheryl and Blaze moved to Durango to attend Fort Lewis College. Cheryl also attended Colorado NorthWestern Community College in Rangley, Colorado and, later in life, Community College of Aurora.
Cheryl enjoyed fashion, music and dancing. Cheryl made jewelry and also knitting Afghans and Scarfs. Cheryl worked for Target many years, Continental & Frontier Airlines and earned her Commercial Driver’s License driving semi-trucks for May, England, Crete and Pride trucking companies. Cheryl loved to travel and visited 3 continents. Cheryl was into Disco music, dancing and was also a Karaoke singer and met her long term friend, David Myers. David was with Cheryl to the very end of her life. Cheryl loved her pets, Punk, Kissimmee, Smudge, Precious and Mokee Bear. Cheryl legally changed her name to Cheryl Chantel Summers. Cheryl estranged herself of her immediate family, 6 Nieces and Nephews, 10 Uncle’s & Aunt’s, 16 Cousins, many friends from school and work. Cheryl is preceded in death by her adopted Father, Kenneth, all of her Uncle’s, Aunt’s, except Christine Goble, and 2 niece/nephews miscarriages. Cheryl learned of Stage 4 Lung, Liver and Kidney Cancer in 2015 and died with her caregiver and friend Jenn Libby-Rardon at 12:35am, September 18, 2017. Cheryl requested her body to be cremated and her ashes spread at various locations that family and friends will attend. Cheryl also requested that no memorial service to be performed.
The family has purchased a Bronze Memorial Plaque with both of her names and placed at the top of Olinger Mount Lindo Cemetery overlooking Denver Metro area. Arrangements under the direction of Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary, Cemetery & Arboretum, Wheat Ridge, CO.
