With profound love and deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Christine Green, who left this world peacefully on April 26, 2025, at the age of 85. Christine was born on July 9, 1940, in San Diego, California, to Walter and Joyce Purvis, and lived a life marked by love, laughter, resilience, and devotion to family.
As a military child, Christine spent her early years traveling up and down the West Coast with her parents and older brother Leon, following her father’s assignments during and after World War II. In 1955, when Walter retired, the family settled in Aurora, Colorado. Christine graduated from Aurora Central High School in 1958 and began her career at the phone company, where she was known for her dedication and warm demeanor.
She met her first husband, Tom Green, at a USO dance at Lowry Air Force Base, and they instantly fell in love and married on October 6, 1961. Together, they built a life rooted in love and adventure. Embracing the military life they raised three wonderful children while they were stationed across the country and overseas. Their son Tim was born in Minot, North Dakota in 1962; daughter Corrina arrived in Okinawa, Japan in 1964; and daughter Theresa completed their family in 1968 in Billings, Montana. In 1969, the family moved to Germany, where they lived for a year and a half. In 1971, they relocated again—this time to Rimini, Italy—before Christine and her children returned to Colorado following Tom’s untimely passing in 1973. Despite the heartbreak of his loss, Christine’s strength, grace, and fierce love for her children carried them forward.
Christine resumed her career in telecommunications, working for Mountain Bell (now Qwest), and as a reservation specialist at Continental Airlines. Her work was always marked by care, competence, and a personal touch that left a lasting impression.
In a twist of fate that could have been a storybook chapter, Christine found love again—just a few steps away. Her friendship with neighbor Jim Meyer blossomed into a beautiful, enduring relationship rooted in companionship, laughter, and shared adventures. Together, they explored the country with the Goldwing Club, embraced nature, and spent cherished days in the mountains. She loved to test her adventurous side with water skiing, camping, cross-country skiing, and fly fishing. Nothing was ever too much for Christine. One of her favorite pastimes was riding on their trike with Jim—wind in her hair, smile on her face, and joy in her heart. After 42 years together, Jim and Christine were just as in love at the end as they were in the beginning.
Christine had a vibrant, joyful spirit. She was silly, loving, devoted, and light-hearted, with a knack for making others feel at home. She adored nature and cherished time spent in the mountains, especially on leisurely rides with Jim on their tricycle. Whether she was collecting vintage dolls, old newspapers, or quirky trinkets, Christine’s passions reflected her deep appreciation for history, beauty, and meaning in the little things.
Above all, Christine loved being a mother and grandmother. Her grandchildren—Thomas, Jacob, Mariah, Stephanie, Jason, Henry, Hallie and Justin—meant the world to her, and she poured love, wisdom, and laughter into their lives. Christine is survived by her devoted husband Jim Meyer; her children Tim (spouse Kim), Corrina (spouse Jeff), and Theresa and step children Nicole, Michelle (and spouse) and Steve; her grandchildren; and many extended family and dear friends who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.
A memorial service celebrating Christine’s extraordinary life will be held on May 14, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Crown Hill, Olinger’s Funeral Home. All who loved her are welcome to join in honoring a life so well lived.
Christine Green’s story is one of resilience, love, laughter, and an open heart. She leaves behind a legacy of joyful memories, unwavering devotion, and the kind of love that never fades. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered—always.
