Chris Strickler was born on March 28, 1962 in Denver, Colorado. He was raised by James and JoAnn Strickler in Golden with his sister Cheryl and brother Jay. He married Penny Langley on August 25, 1990 in Wheat Ridge, Colorado where they raised their three children Colton, Cody, and Nikki.
As a child, he was a natural athlete. He was accomplished swimmer at Rolling Hills Country Club, and a hard-nosed linebacker on the football field. His passion for sports were something that he passed along to his children later in life.
A successful businessman, he started CBS Trucking and Excavating in 1982 and operated the company for the rest of his life. Through his work as an excavator, he left his impression on the ever-evolving Denver metro area. In his own words, he was a “pillar of the community.” When he wasn’t working, you could find him motoring around in the great outdoors. Whether he was boating, riding motorcycles, driving sandrails, jeeps, or UTVs, he was always looking for the next opportunity to take his toys out and have fun with his friends and family.
In addition to his love of the outdoors, he also possessed a great appreciation for rock music. He believed in “living life through Metallica lyrics,” and that’s exactly what he did.
Chris Irish goodbyed on March 2, 2023. He was a loyal and loving husband, father, brother, uncle, son, and friend. He is survived by his loving wife Penny, his three kids Colton (Janelle), Cody (Kaysha), and Nikki, his sister Cheryl, and multiple cousins, nieces, nephews, family members and friends that felt like family members. He is preceded in death by his parents James and JoAnn, and his brother Jay.
A memorial service for Christopher will be held Friday, March 10, 2023 from 10:30 AM to 1:00 PM at Arvada Elks Lodge, 5700 Yukon St., Arvada, CO 80002.
