Family was vitally important to Darlene – she saw you – loved everyone unconditionally; always asking what she could do to help.
When Dave died back in 2006, Darlene was destroyed but God gave her a best friend. She reunited with her South High School friend George Westerberg. They became best friends and Darlene was able to help George by bringing from outside to inside Grace Church. George accepted Jesus as his Savior before his passing in April 2023.

Darlene had a hard time saying goodbye. Many times, family and friends would guess how long it would take for Darlene to say goodbye at family gatherings. Most often Darlene was the last to leave.
