Darrell Shane Whisler

Darrell Whisler, mostly known by his middle name of Shane, was born in Centerville, Iowa in 1946.

Shane lived life to its fullest, he was very sentimental and had a big heart. He always found the good in people and enjoyed each and every relationship he had made along life's journey.

He met and fell in love with Catherine Elizabeth Gibbons who he married and they had three daughters; Denise, Donna and De Anna.

He joined the Army after graduating from Wheat Ridge High school and became a Sargent, Military Police K9 Corps, 24th MP Co 24th Infantry Division with being awarded the National Defense Service and Sharpshooter (rifle) medals.

His training consisted of USAREUR - 8 weeks 1966 - Army Sentry Dog School, Code of Conduct, Military Justice, Deneva Conv., and CBR Training.

After serving in Germany during the Vietnam era he was stationed in Fort Riley, Kansas - 5th US Army. After honorable discharge he joined law enforcement; Deputy Sherriff with Jefferson County, Police Officer with Wheat Ridge, Colorado State Patrol, Investigator. He was one of few that started the Wheat Ridge Police Department when the city became a corporation.

During a short period he got into the family business and became a new home salesman for Whisler Construction, later became a salesman for Re/Max West and then decided to go back to his preferred profession of law enforcement.

He's traveled and lived in many states and countries. He was an animal rights advocate (loved his K9 kids) and found the most peace in the great outdoors whether it be in the mountains, hiking through a forest or swimming in the ocean. His favorite things in life were riding his motorcycle, scuba diving and spending time with loved ones.

Darrell Shane Whisler went to be with the Lord on October 2, 2020. Darrell is survived by his brothers; Dennis Duane (Lynne) Whisler and Russell Dean (Lauri) Whisler, daughters; Denise Marie Whisler, Donna Lynne Whisler and De Anna Lee (Troy) Harwood and grandson, Christopher Anthony Whisler.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rosalie Mae & Edwin Duane Whisler.
