

David K. Lomax, age 73, of Denver, Colorado passed away on April 5, 2017 at St. Joseph Hospital in Denver. His passing was attributed to complications while recovering from surgery. He is survived by daughter Cori (James) Hostetter of Knoxville, TN, son Spencer (Jana) Lomax of Golden, CO and sister Sara Lomax (Ken Church) of Grand Lake, CO. He is also survived by his grandchildren Hampton, Emerson (Hostetter) and Townes, Althea and Lincoln (Lomax). He is preceded in death by his parents Carroll K. and Camilla (Siegrist) Lomax.
David was born in 1943 in Chillicothe, Missouri and grew up on a farm near Sumner, Missouri. He graduated from Brookfield High School in 1961, and subsequently attended the University of Missouri. In 1967 David enlisted in the United States Marine Corp., and would attain the rank of Sergeant. He would go on to serve a thirteen-month tour of duty in Vietnam, stationed near Da Nang assisting in the protection of an anti-aircraft missile battery. He returned stateside in 1969 and would receive an honorable discharge from the service in 1972.
He returned to the University of Missouri in 1970 to complete his Bachelor of Science degree. Shortly after graduating he married Patricia Lee McCabe, and they made their home in Idaho Springs, Colorado. During this era he worked a crew responsible for dynamite blasting for the Eisenhower Tunnel construction and also worked for Coors Brewery in Golden, CO. He fell in love with the mountains and become an avid outdoorsman throughout his life, active in cycling, skiing, and outdoor photography. Ultimately, David forged a long and successful career in medical and orthopedic sales and developed lasting relationships with many hospitals and surgeons throughout Colorado.
When David retired in 2007 he pursued a regular exercise routine with the practice of yoga as a centerpiece. He lived simply and had a great love for our environment. His activities included cross-country skiing, snow shoeing, hiking, fly fishing, spending time with his family and grandchildren and enjoying a bold cup of coffee with friends. He had a great love for bluegrass and folk music especially in a live setting!
David’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at St. Joseph Hospital and Spalding Rehabilitation Center for their loving care.
A Celebration of Life will be held on David’s birthday, May 25, 2017 at the Denver Botanic Gardens from 4-7 PM. All are welcome to attend.
