Deciderio Cayetano “DC” “Desi” DeHerrera, born July 30, 1927, passed from this world on December 23, 2025. Desi was a proud member of the 82nd Airborne and father to nine children (Beverly, Dave, Steve, Jacki, Lola, Anita, Judy, Joseph, and Bobbie) and joins his beautiful wife Angie, daughter Judy, and son Joseph in death. Desi wore many hats in his lifetime. Along with his military service and parental role, he was a sheriff, plumber, cafe owner, civil rights leader, postal worker, farmer/rancher, horse whisperer, grandfather to 17, and great grandfather to many others. He was also a wonderful storyteller. He wore each of those hats at a jaunty angle and with great pride. When asked how he would like to be remembered, he said, “Joyful.” Desi made friends wherever he went. He will be missed tremendously and remembered fondly. Via con Dios, Pop Pop. We love you, and we tip our hats to you.
