Dolores was born in Wichita, KS, but she considered herself a Texan. She married Lawrence W. Eddy on November 28, 1946 in California. She is survived by her children Claire Montour, David Eddy (Elizabeth), Patricia Pugliese (Louis), and Marcus Eddy. Her grandchildren include Leila, Jacob, Kirk, Janine, Louis, Robert, Roseann, and Lucas. Her great-grandchildren include Jessie, James, Shavonne, Hajar, Huda, Taylar, Tony, Joey, Vincent, Justin, and the newest one, just born, Jolene. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Lawrence, and her daughter Juanita Pierce (Terry).
Dolores graduated in 1944 from San Jacinto High School in Houston, Texas. She then attended college for two years at the University of Texas. In her 40's she returned to school at the University of Colorado Denver Campus where she earned a Bachelor's degree in Anthropology, and then went on to the University of Denver and earned a Master's degree in Library Science. She worked as a librarian for the Denver Regional Council of Governments before securing a full time job as the librarian for the Environmental Protection Agency.
Dolores had wide, diverse, and eclectic interests. She was a life long reader, had a massive library, and was a member of Great Books. She loved diverse cultures and was involved with UNESCO, and traveled all over the world. Her music collection included international music, popular tunes, Rock and Roll, Classical, American Indian, and many more.
She loved to travel and visited many places including Bora Bora, Egypt, Romania, England, Germany, and the Caribbean.
She was active in several groups including Phi Beta Kappa, Mensa and Intertel. She had several life long friends that she saw on a regular basis, including a standing Wednesday lunch date at Newbarrys Restaurant.
Despite her physical ailments, she courageously prevailed and lived her life as full as possible with a smile on her face. She was well loved and will be missed by her family and many friends.
Memorial Service will be Thursday, September 14, 2017 at 9:30am in the Olinger Crown Hill Pavilion of Reflection. Arrangements under the direction of Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary, Cemetery & Arboretum, Wheat Ridge, CO.
