Donald Davis was born on March 4, 1930, in Armour, South Dakota, to Cyril Ray Davis and Margret Olga Dahl. He is the father of Curt Kline, Gregory Davis, Lori Feld, Douglas Davis, and Eric Davis. Following his parents’ divorce, Don moved with his mother to Denver, Colorado, where he later graduated from North High School. His journey from the plains of South Dakota to the foothills of the Rockies would mark a life full of hard work, family, and passion.
Don was a self-made man with a strong work ethic. He owned and operated Don’s Texaco at 49th & Lowell, a neighborhood staple for years. Later, he became a respected sales manager at American Building Supply, before ultimately becoming an owner and partner in Tartan Industries.
Throughout his life, Don shared his heart with three remarkable women. Carolyn Miller, the mother of Greg and Doug; Mardell Meisner, the mother of Eric, Curt, and Lori; and Shirley McChesney, who brought JD and Sheryl into his life.
A lifelong enthusiast of hot rods and classic cars, Don was an active member of the Denver Timing Association and the Denver Roadsters. He also served as a judge at the Tri-State Auto Show for many years, sharing his keen eye and deep appreciation for craftsmanship.
Rest in peace, Don.
