Eleanor Romero passed away peacefully on June 7, 2016 at 3:15pm with her husband and children and grandchildren at her side. In May of 2012, Eleanor was diagnosed with small cell lung cancer which travelled to her brain. Her diagnosis was ten (10) months. She began nine (9) months of chemotherapy and radiation. It was during this time that we began to see her strength and determination. In July of 2012, she agreed to attend a healing ceremony at the Native American Church which was sponsored by her daughters. The outpouring of love from the Native American community was beautiful. She also agreed to start a CBD regimen. During this time she was determined to return to her job. She worked for six months after receiving chemotherapy. Every three (3) months Eleanor would go and get CAT scans and PET scans. She was in remission within the first three (3) months of her diagnosis. Her oncologist was surprised. The answer was easy: We could not say it was the chemo or radiation, or the CBD’s, without a doubt it was her faith and trust in Creator that she had been healed.
Eleanor is survived by her loving husband Raymond Romero, her children, Barbara (Otoniel) Acosta, Beverly (James) Romero, and Raymond (Bernadette) Romero, Jr.; her grandchildren, Monique Sendejas, Joshua Sendejas, Carlos Basaldua, Michael Ray Romero, Michelle Romero, Anthony Romero, Alisha Romero, Brianna Romero, Alyssa Romero, and Stephanie Romero; her great grandchildren, Otoniel Sendejas, Myreda “Mimi” Sendejas, Sebastian “Bean” Sendejas, and Besente “DayDay” Sendejas, her siblings Sally (Vaudie) Ortega, Pearl (Kevin) Barnes, Brenda (Darryl) Baptiste, and Charles M. Santifer. She is also survived by Joshua Sendejas, Jr., Alexcia Walker, Joshua Sendejas, Joziah Sendejas, Michael Romero, Brandon Romero, Shaun Romero, Leonard Romero, Alyssia Romero, Carlos Ruben Basaldua, Cetan Basaldua, Mia Basaldua, Stephen Romero, Aliyah Romero, Sophie Romero, Landon Romero, Julissa and Gianna. She is preceded in death by her mother, Mary Santifer, sons, Steven and Jeffery Romero, and sisters, Dolores Levine and Bessie Maestas. Eleanor will be forever remembered and known for her love of life and dedication to her family and friends.
