Elmer was born on July 4,1936 in Denver, Colorado, where he spent his formative years. He went on to attend Saguache High School and graduated in 1954. He enlisted in the Marine Corp in July of 1954. He later became a machinist for Sterns & Rogers. Throughout his career, he was known for his hard work, dedication, and passion for helping others.
But more than anything, Elmer was a devoted father. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. His favorite pass times were camping, fishing and hunting.
Elmer is preceded in death by his first wife Marie Keeler and his late wife Rose Keeler. Elmer is also preceded in death by his son Paul Keeler. He is survived by his children Dorie Helton, Barb Given, Linda Boldt, and Judy Whitecotton. Stepchildren Steve Heater, Robert Heater, Debra Ramsey, and Lisa Heater. His grandchildren and great grandchildren. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him.
A private funeral service will be held for family and close friends.
