

Steffie Casias was born on May 23, 1931 in Sopris Colorado to Eugene and Isabelle Arguello. She had 12 brothers and sisters. Steffie used to go to school where she finished up to 11th grade. As soon as she was done at school for the day she would hurry home to start making adobe bricks to help her daddy to build extra rooms to add on for their house.
Steffie had moved to Denver from Sopris to help her sister Lena take care of her three girls Veronica, Rita and Mae, it was then at that age of 19 when she met Gilbert Joe Casias at a dance hall where he swept her off her feet. They courted for a few months and married in a small ceremony in her mother-in-law’s front lawn. Steffie started working as a waitress downtown at Woolworths also working at Russell Stovers for six years 1973 to 1979 then working for a laundry service off 8th and Inca. Steffie then finished with DPS transportation where she worked from 1989 to 2013 for 25 years as a paraprofessional.
During these years Steffie love spending time with her family, her and Gilbert took many trips with kids/ grandkids to Trinidad, Taos New Mexico to visit her sister Dolores or to Pueblo Colorado to see her little sister Lucy. Steffie loved reading, her favorite author was Danielle steel. Steffie also had a passion for embroidering making blankets that she would gift to her newborn grandchildren /great/great great grandchildren. Steffie enjoyed going to church every Saturday evening being a parishioner with Saint Jude for 9 years. Steffie had a strong belief in prayer and prayed her rosary every day 1 to 2 times a day.
Steffie was a strong and very loving compassionate woman who made friends everywhere she went and touched the hearts of all those she met. Steffie was a very feisty woman who told the truth no matter what, she was a shoulder to cry on When needed but also a wise woman filled with so much knowledge to share. Steffie taught her family to be strong independent men/women, to never let anyone make you feel less than your worth and to love with all your heart and soul. She instilled morals and values in them to be hard-working individuals, and to give respect to all they came in contact with no matter what.
Steffie was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, Grandma, great grandma, a nana , a friend, but most of all she was our angel on earth, her life impacted so many in so many ways and her unforgettable spirit will live on with us and threw us. She was and always will be too much of a unforgettable woman.
Steffie is preceded in death by her loving husband of 75 years Gilbert Joe Casias, her son Henry Lee Arguello, her father Eugene, mother Isabelle, Brothers; Jose, Andrew, Manuel , Bobby, Eloy and Danny. Sisters; Emma, Dora, Dolores, Lena and Priscilla.
Steffie is Survived by her 6 children; Shirley (Bernie) Lucero, Loretta Jean Casias, Debbie(Oscar) Sotelo, Diana Rascón, Jodey (Roy) Trujillo, and Ben (Maria Elena) Casias. Sister; Lucille(Kelly) Torres of Pueblo Colorado.
Steffie is survived by 7 grandchildren; Christina, Dennis, Cristobal, Selena, Denise, Jessica and Kayla. 24 Great Grandchildren; Enrique, Benito, Breonna, Isabella, Jeremy, Cristobal, Izaiah, Rhayonna , Gabriella, Lorenzo, Iliana, Zaveah, Diego, Dannica, Zaden, Dominic, Gilbert, Giovanni, Brian, Imani, Gavin, Santos, Zaniah and Delilah. 3 Great Great Grandchildren; Dalaree, Lorenzo and Jeremiah.
Steffie is also survived by numerous family nieces, nephews, cousins and many many loving friends who miss her dearly.
