We are sad to announce the passing of Eugene (Gene) Revere Stevens. He passed in his sleep at the age of 98. He is preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Nelda Stevens (Dalhberg). He is survived by his four children Martin Stevens, Shirley Stevens, Robin Haug and Paul Stevens. Gene was blessed with many grandchildren, step-grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Gene was born and raised in Littleton, CO. Upon graduating from high school, he enlisted and served in the Army. He is a combat veteran of WWII and was awarded the Purple Heart for injuries sustained during the war. After returning home, and a few moves to such sprawling metropolises as Torrington, WY, Gene landed in Northglenn, CO where he lived for most of his adult life.
Gene enjoyed cars, pets, woodworking, was a model train enthusiast and an avid collector of all things collectible. He loved music and played several different instruments. Many fond memories include the sound of Glenn Miller filling the air on Friday evenings. He enjoyed traveling, taking numerous family road trips throughout the country. He was an excellent driver and was able to handle the rigors of the road, most of which came from those of us in the back seat.
Gene retired from the Denver Water Department after 37 years of service. After retirement, he and Nelda spent several summers in Estes Park, CO and enjoyed “snowbirding” in Arizona. They continued traveling and were able to visit Europe and take several cruises.
Gene had an incredible sense of humor and was loved by the residents and staff at Keystone Assisted Living where he spent the past 9 years.
Services for both Gene and Nelda Stevens will be on April 21, 2023, 2:00 pm, at Fort Logan National Cemetery. We will carry their memories in our hearts
