Freda Mae Nolan was born on July 8, 1914 in Moffat, Colorado to Orin and Mabel Risher. Her mother died when she was three years old. Freda was raised and loved by her father and aunt. She grew up in the San Luis Valley where they farmed. She had a wonderful childhood with much love and so many fond memories. After her graduation from Alamosa High School, her family moved to Denver. She worked as a waitress and later as assistant manager at a restaurant downtown. During the war, she worked as a bullet inspector.
After the war, Freda married William F. Nolan on May 4, 1947. On November 1, 1948 their daughter, Barbara was born. Freda dedicated her life to her family, taking care of everyone including her father and aunt until their passing. She was an important part of her grandchildren’s lives. She was always there to help, give lots of love, and make beautiful memories which will always be cherished. Freda moved to Conifer with her daughter and son-in-law in 1996. She took great joy in the mountain scenery and wildlife.
Freda was granted her angel wings on Tuesday, July 18, 2017, 10 days after her 103rd birthday. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends. She was a kind, loving, and caring person who will be so incredibly missed. She is survived by her daughter Barbara (Jim) Barth, granddaughters Karen Barth and Jennifer (Jerry) Cuba, and many nieces, nephews, treasured family members, and friends. She was such a blessing in our lives.
Services will be at 11:00am on Saturday, July 22 at Olinger Crown Hill with visitation one hour prior to services. She will be buried with her family at Olinger Crown Hill Cemetery.
