

Fritz was born on March 8, 1938, in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was the son of Virginia (Kerz) and Frederick T. Hill, Sr. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his brother, Nicholaus.
Fritz is survived by his wife of 58 years, Clarice (Brown) Hill. He is also survived by his sons, Frederick III “Trip” (Brie) and Nicholaus B. (Shannon). In addition, he is survived by his three granddaughters, Sophia (Andrew Miller, fiancé), Elena, and Evelyn, all of whom he adored. Other survivors include Anna Jo (Clarice’s twin sister) and her husband James S. Johnson and their family, many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Fritz graduated from Shortridge High School in Indianapolis. As a Boy Scout he earned the rank of Eagle Scout. He graduated from Indiana University with a degree in business. He was a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity and served as President his senior year. After graduation, he joined the United States Marine Corps. After Basic School in Quantico, VA, he continued as a 2nd Lieutenant to the US Naval Air Command in Pensacola, FL, where he was awarded his wings in 1964. He flew one of the first UH-1E (Huey) helicopters flown by the Marine Corps. Among his medals was the Air Medal, for his meritorious achievement in connection with military operations in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Upon resignation, he achieved the rank of Captain.
In 1967, Fritz joined Ball Corporation in Muncie, Indiana. During his early years at Ball, he earned his MBA from Ball State University. He worked in various positions in the accounting department for 36 years before retiring in 2003 as Director of Accounting.
Fritz and Clarice have been dedicated members of Central Presbyterian Church since 1979, when Ball Corporation transferred him to Denver. Fritz was a deacon and served on Session. He had been a very active member, as well as chairman of the Budget and Finance Committee and the Endowment Committee. He seldom missed a service, even virtually.
As an alumnus of Delta Tau Delta, Fritz was very active in the Denver Alumni chapter. He enjoyed participating in the activities of the Colorado Chapter of Financial Executives Institute.
During retirement Fritz and Clarice enjoyed international travel, often with dear friends and family. Fritz enjoyed entertaining, was a gracious host, and was dearly loved by those who knew him for his kindness and lasting friendships. He never missed a special family event or a CU football game.
A memorial service for Fritz will be held on Wednesday, July 7, 2021, at 2 P.M. at Central Presbyterian Church, 1660 Sherman St., Denver, CO 80203.
