Heather Hayes

Heather Lynn Hayes, 29, residing in Denver, CO, passed away on March 4, 2012. Heather was born July 20, 1982 in East Ridge, TN. She lived in Ormond Beach most of her life after moving here with her family at age 4. She attended elementary school at St. James Episcopal School in Ormond Beach. She then graduated in 2000 from Seabreeze High School where she was active in sports and cheerleading. After high school she went on to graduate from Florida State University in 2005 with a double major in finance and real estate. Some of her happiest times were snow skiing and enjoying water sport activities with friends and family. Heather is survived by her mother and step father, Jeffie and Steve Casey of Upland, CA; her father and stepmother, Ron & Lisa Hayes of Ormond Beach, FL; maternal grandfather, Howard Hewett of Albany, GA; step grandfather, Donald Baier of Alliance, OH; brother, Todd Hayes of Ormond Beach and his son Dylan; sister, Jenifer (Jody) Stephenson and their two children Tye and Sydney of Keystone Heights, FL; sister, Brooke Hayes of Jacksonville, FL and Heather’s loving partner Dan Mellott of Denver, CO. The Family will be making a donation in Heather’s memory to COPE Community Outreach for the Prevention of Eating Disorders, a local organization dedicated to educating Volusia schools and medical community about this under-recognized and under-treated disease.
