Jackie Busch

Jacquelyn Mae Westmoreland Busch crossed over in the early morning hours of Monday, March 13, 2023, in Colorado Springs. She was born September 6, 1924, the daughter of Joshua S. Westmoreland and Viola Ester Owen, and was 98 years old.

She was born and spent the first 48 years of her life in southern California. She met her husband, Albert Hays Busch, Jr., at Stanford University. Together they built a home in Arcadia before moving to Colorado to operate Christy Sports, a sporting goods store, in 1972. Hays, her husband of almost 73 years, preceded her in death on July 29, 2016.

Three daughters remember Mom: Teresa Lynn Busch Ulrich Galloway, Lisa Mary Busch Greenway, and Jennifer Ruth Busch. Six grandchildren remember Grandma: Joshua Paul Ulrich, Jason Albert Galloway, Hannah Merle Galloway Walis, William Hays Greenway, Rolf Hays Hanning, and Jacquelyn Jane Hanning. Three great-grandchildren remember Great Grandma Busch: Hays Patrick Galloway, Brynn Elizabeth Galloway, and Juniper Rose Walis.

Jackie will be remembered as a lady and a homemaker. She was always well-dressed, and her home ever elegant, clean, and organized. Jackie loved to prepare healthy food, and favorite comfort food, for eager family and friends. Jackie was active in her community, serving the League of Women Voters and her church. She was also physically active. For over 30 years, she served as a member and organizer for her hiking and cross-country skiing group. Jackie loved to sew, shop for clothes, try new recipes, and play the piano.

Jackie took great pride in being the right-hand-woman to her husband Hays, and now she can continue that role on the other side. We will miss her, but we know her soul is free and she is happy -- and her belt, shoes and handbag match.

A graveside memorial for Jackie is set for Wednesday, April 12 at 11:00 a.m. at Crown Hill Mortuary and Cemetery. If you wish to honor Jackie's memory, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Applewood Valley Methodist Church at applewoodvalleychurch.org.
