Jim met his future wife, Barbara, at a friend’s wedding in December 1965. He knew that she was the love of his life. They were married on August 16, 1969. They welcomed two daughters, Karen in 1973 and Jennifer in 1977. The girls brought endless joy to their lives. Jim and Barbara were blessed with 53 years together.
After high school, Jim worked for his father as a salesman at Capital Paint Sundries. He treasured the friendships he developed over the years. Jim and Barbara eventually bought the business from his father and ran it together. The company suffered a major fire in 1986. At the time of the fire, Jim was diagnosed with cancer of the larynx. He underwent emergency surgery which saved his life. Through hard work, perseverance, and the support of their customers and friends, they were able to rebuild.
Jim had a lifelong love of fishing and the outdoors. As a result, the family bought a cabin in Grand Lake, Colorado. The cabin was a special place for uninterrupted family time. There they shared lots of love and made beautiful memories.
Jim and Barbara had the opportunity to build their dream home in Conifer, Colorado after their retirement in 1998. Jim loved the mountain scenery and wildlife. He was grateful to be able to spend his last years at home.
Jim was a kind, loving, and generous man. He loved his family and friends deeply. Jim is survived by his wife, Barbara; daughters Karen Barth and Jennifer Cuba (Jerry); beloved uncle Don; and many cousins.
