

James E. (Jim) Lakin was born in Havana, Nebraska on August 19, 1916. His parents, Frank and Elizabeth, operated a general store in Keenesburg, Colorado where Jim, graduated from high school. Jim had four siblings: sisters Ines, Marianne and Lavon and a brother, Darrell. In 1937, at the age of 20, Jim moved to Denver and took a job as a shop mechanic with Timpte Bros., Inc., a semi-trailer and truck body manufacturer. It turned out to be the only company Jim worked for or with. He became President in 1969, Chairman in 1972, and Chairman Emeritus in 2003. Jim's association with Timpte lasted 75 years, and he maintained an office at Timpte until his death. Jim was a Mason and a Shriner. In addition to work, he enjoyed boating, fishing, golf and following the Denver Broncos. He was preceeded in death by: Elaine, his loving wife of 63 years; his parents, Frank and Elizabeth Lakin; Sisters Ines Wailes and Lavon Hartman, and Brother Darrell Lakin. He is survived by: a sister-Marianne Norwood, his children- Maurine Scott, Jerry Lakin and Linda Robinson, grandchildren- Michael Scott, Mechel Scott, Kate Lynn Martin, Suzanne Temple and Jame Allen Lakin and nine great-grandchildren. Services are Thursday, May 17, 2012 at 9:00 AM at Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary, 7777 West 29th Avenue, Wheat Ridge, Colorado 80033.
