Jane Marie Hooper was born in Denver, Colorado on July 18th, 1942 to Zelma Munger Neal and Murphy Thomas Lasley. She was the fourth child of six: one boy and 5 girls. The family moved around the country for several years before settling in Deer Trail, Colorado, where she graduated from High School in 1960. She had very fond memories of growing up in a small town, where everyone looked out for each other and always pitched in to help.
Janey attended college at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, majoring in business courses. She moved to Denver in 1961 and took a job at Gates Rubber Company, where she met Richard Hooper; they married in 1962. They had two children together and continued to share in many favorite pastimes, such as camping, travel and staying active in their kids’ lives. Family was very important to both of them, and they enjoyed many happy family gatherings throughout the years. She also cherished her close friends, and spent time with them whenever possible.
Her favorite activities included reading, knitting, sewing, embroidery, and puzzles (both jigsaw and crossword) as well as a variety of different crafts. As the family continued to grow, she stayed active in the grandkids’ lives as well, often attending various school and sports events.
As her health began to deteriorate more and more rapidly, she chose to sell the family home and move to Thornton with her daughter’s family, where she lived out the remainder of her days. She passed away in her home at the age of 81, after some time spent on home hospice care.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard; her only brother and three of her four sisters. She is survived by her youngest sister, Julie (Vic) Behrens; her children: Shelley (Bob) Mason of Thornton and Gregory (Bridgett) Hooper of Brighton; six grandchildren, including Pamela (Matt) Carroll, David (Sheena) Mason, Daniel (Ashley) Mason, Andrew (Allie) Hooper, Kimberly Mason and Cassandra Hooper; and 10 great-grandchildren: Jareth, Chase, Analisa, Joshua, Arianna, Noah, Carter, Liam, Keaton and Ava. She also had numerous nieces and nephews, whom she loved deeply.
