Jean was the first person we met the day we had to move our dad into assisted living. She became his loving friend, a true advocate, and a strong protector for our dad. She became one of my dearest friends, too.

We developed the closeness I see expressed by all who have written on this memorial page, but she made me feel like I was the special one. Jean made everyone feel like they were the special one in her life. She gave her time unselfishly, as she gave her waning energy and physical strength to each person who came to visit and to each worker who came to help. Jean shared willingly of her own experiences, but always turned the conversation to a concern and desire to hear what you had to say. I believe everyone left her room happier, more peaceful, and more joyful.

I had the privilege of reading the bound albums containing all of Jean's articles from the Winchester Sun. Reading those was life changing. She wrote funny stories, touching stories, sad stories--in each there was a lesson of love.

Jean’s life was a lesson of love to everyone who had the joy and privilege of knowing her. It is so appropriate that her last article in the Sun—about love, of course—was published the day before she left this life. Now she must certainly be saying, “The view from heaven is wondrous!”

Jean was friends with my Mom at Brookdale and even though it was for a short time my Mom loved her. I am so thankful that my Mom met her. She made my Mom's time there so much better with a friend. My Mom will miss her a lot. What a special lady she was.

I met Jean many years ago in Winchester Kentucky. At the time, we lived on the same country road and enjoyed many talks through the years. She was a jewel of a person, kind and caring--an utter joy to know. She will forever be remembered with love and respect.

Jean was my Creative Writing teacher in High School and she became my mentor and very good friend through the ups and the downs of life. At first we wrote letters back and forth that lead to monthly phone calls in later years. I will miss my friend and our soul to soul talks. Light, Maggie

I had the great privilege of being a care giver for Jean at Brookdale Littleton for roughy two and a half years. During my time with her, she taught me a lot about life and caring for the most vulnerable. I greatly enjoyed our chats and every time I visited her and her cats. Her warm, positive and caring presence is something I will miss the most. Jean will always be remembered as friend and wonderful person. My heart felt condolences go out to all her family and every one she touched. Warm regards, Kelly

I met Jean at Brookdale, she and my father Warren Fay shared a table for meals. From our first conversations, I knew I had made a dear friend and found a mentor. I hold each of our conversations in my heart. I feel the light of mercy and love burns a bit brighter in me, because it burned so bright in her. With love and condolences to your family- Judith Johnson, Farmington NM.

My dear Aunt Jean- your work here is done- and what an abundance of work, love, and caring. Few people are so good as she was - she embodied the meaning of love - simple and pure - just plain goodness exuded from every pore. Oh how I craved that love from her and still do! She was what I wanted, needed, and desired to be like as an adult. Always the rescuer , (both animals and people), her first act upon meeting me as a newborn infant was to rescue me , (with the help of her own mother) , from my dire situation and not return me until something was done with my mother. She always operated from a position of love and thoughtfulness, open in her heart and mind. Her work with animals was phenomenal. So many trails she blazed with light and love and joy. The world suddenly seems so much smaller- I miss you terribly already- your legacy of love will follow you forever- Godspeed in your future travels - with love , Alison

My dear Miss Jean. I had the pleasure of getting to know her and call her my friend. We had long talks, and shared about our families. I loved reading her writings and sharing pictures of my garden and dogs with her. I will miss her terribly. May God bless you all with peace and comfort.

There are no words to express the sadness in my soul in losing our precious Jean, but I know she is now at peace and with Gene. After almost 30 years of friendship there are so many memories and I will treasure them always. My heart goes out to all of you. She loved you so very much and was so proud to be your mom and grandma. Phil and I will miss her greatly.
