Jeanette was born in Ft. Smith, Arkansas, daughter of Hatem and Wadad Jamell. She grew up with her brothers Gene and Eddie in Walsenburg, Colorado where her parents owned a dry goods store. She was a lifelong reader and read every book in the Walsenburg library.
She graduated from high school, attended beauty school and worked as a cosmetologist and hairdresser in Denver, Colorado. In 1962, she married Larry W. Thrower and eventually settled in Arvada, Colorado to raise her children, David and Julianne.
Jeanette was a tireless advocate for the arts and was the President of the Denver Lyric Opera Guild, sat on the Jefferson County board of the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District, and served on the Diaconate of Arvada Covenant Church. She was an accomplished soprano, sang in her church choir, with trios and small groups, and with the Colorado Chorale for many years. In music, she found beauty.
Jeanette was a member of Arvada Covenant Church for over 50 years. She was a woman of faith and service and was considered a pillar of her church community.
She enjoyed travel and spending time with her large extended family. She was beloved to so many.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Larry W. Thrower; her son, Hon. David J. Thrower; daughter, Julianne Thrower; daughter-in-law, Misti Gossett-Thrower; grandsons Christopher and Ian Hans, her brothers, H. Gene Jamell (Adeeby) and A. Eddie Jamell, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, her family suggests donations to: The Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities, the Denver Lyric Opera Guild, or Opera Colorado.
