JoAnn Marshall, beloved wife of Charles Marshall, mother to Kimberly Marshall and Julia (Suzie) Marshall of Arvada, CO, peacefully passed away in her home on May 16, 2025 leaving a void her family can not fill.
JoAnn was born on June 3, 1944 to Kenneth and Irma Jackson and was raised on a farm in Illinois, with her older sister, Joyce Crone. Joyce and JoAnn were best friends and supported each other throughout their childhood. JoAnn was very thankful she got to spend a couple of days with her big sister just days prior to her passing.
Chuck and JoAnn met in 1971 after Chuck returned from Vietnam and began working as a campus police officer at Illinois Central College in East Peoria. As fate would have it, JoAnn’s car broke down and Chuck served as her knight in shining armor. The rest, as they say, is history…
JoAnn loved being a grandmother, or “WaWa” which was a unique moniker she was very proud of because it was given to her by her granddaughters. JoAnn took special joy in her grandchildren, books, gardening and, of course, her pets.
JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents and countless pets, the most recent being Joey, her dog she adored. She is survived by her loving husband of nearly 53 years Charles Marshall, her daughters Kimberly Marshall Machado (husband Jesus Machado, daughters Olivia and Isabelle Machado-Marshall) , Julia (Suzie) Marshall (partner Ben Ludwig, sons Evan and Landon Venters), and sister Joyce Crone, all of whom will never forget the love she brought to their lives. JoAnn’s surviving family take comfort knowing that she is now at peace, is without pain or sorrow, and will be reunited in the Kingdom of Heaven.
A funeral mass will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church on Tuesday June 3rd at 10:00 am located at 4377 Utica St, Denver, CO 80212.
