John Alling Larsen, age 84, passed away December 29, 2013 in Arvada, Colorado. John was born July 31, 1929 in Peoria, Illinois to the late Cleon and Cornelia Larsen. He was retired from IBM and enjoyed many hobbies including sailing, skiing, bike riding, astronomy, and photography. He proudly earned his Captain’s license from the U.S. Coast Guard, and was a member of the Southern Colorado Astronomical Society and Big Brother’s Association. John is survived by his children: Brian (Karen) Larsen, Beth (John) Sheehan, & Deborah (Scott) Carpenter; grandchildren: Kyla (Elliott) Holm, Brenna Larsen, Adam Carpenter, Taryn (Zach) Newell & Elias Carpenter; great grandson Xander Newell; sister Margaret Henning and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Ann. Funeral service will be Friday, January 3, 2014 at 12:00 P.M. at the Crown Hill Chapel of Peace.
