John was born on December 23, 1934 in Denver Colorado to Raymond and Rachel Waibel. He often told stories of growing up in the North Denver and Edgewater areas. On June 12, 1955 he married Delores Reeves and they enjoyed 57 years of marriage. John graduated from Warner Pacific College and taught elementary students for 22 years. John also worked in the grocery industry for most of his life beginning at age 12, and prided himself in being a hard worker.
John’s faith in Jesus Christ was the most important aspect of his life. He was raised in the Church of God, and loved the church very much. But his love for the church was second to his love of Jesus and his personal relationship with his savior. John understood that he was saved by grace, and tried to live his life as a thank you for Christ’s favor.
John has a keen sense of humor, but usually nobody appreciated his jokes quite as much as he did.
John was preceded in death by his Father, Ramond Waibel; Mother, Rachel Waibel; Brother, Richard Waibel: Son, William “Billy” Waibel; and his wife, Delores Waibel. John is survived by his sons Doug (Lynn) Waibel, and Alan Waibel. Grandchildren, Will (Teal) Waibel, Eli Waibel, Mitch (Sarah Person) Waibel, Victoria (Tyler) Burke, Isabelle Thomas, and Anthony Thomas. Great Grandchild, Breyer Waibel, and Brindle Waibel; Sister, Iris Jones; and many nieces and nephews.
