Joseph M. Mayer, age 84 passed away peacefully on 3/15/25. Preceded in death: Doris Childrey Mayer, wife. Christopher Mayer, son. Scott Mayer, son. Brenda Sue "Penny" Godwin, step-daughter. Joe was born 8/1/1940 in Bismark, North Dakota, to Dorothy and Albert Mayer. Joe went to Jr. College in San Diego, CA. and Denver CO. He studied and became certified in brick laying and accounting. He served in the Navy 1960-1965 on the U.S.S. Helena. He was part of the UDT team and also was a machinist. During his time he mastered Taekwondo and earned a black-belt. Joe met Doris in Colorado and married June 5, 1984. He and Doris were proud residents of Lakewood, Colorado. Doris passed October 2022. Joe drove for Yellow Freight and started his own brick laying business. Joe had 3 sons from a previous marriage: Scott Mayer, Chris Mayer, and Troy Mayer. Joe was a private man and loved the outdoors. He loved his road trips to Fairplay, CO. and Montana. His big smile and wicked sense of humor will be remembered.
