Judith Ann Nielson Roesch was born in Tremonton, Utah on May 17. 1941. She was the second child and only daughter of Donald Boyd and Florence Ila Nielson. She was preceded in death by her father, her mother, and her brother Jerry Karl.
Her early life was spent on a farm, on the Nespelem Indian reservation, and on the Yakima Indian Reservation, where her father was the
representative of the Bureau of Land Management and Indian Affairs. She attended and graduated from Toppenish High School In 1967, She later attended beauty school and did a stint at the local A&W Restaurant.
We met 49 years ago when she asked if I would like to go to a dance with her. I have two left feet but said yes, the rest was history. I asked her to marry me after 9 months of dating. We married on June 4, 1977 in Toppenish, Washington, and spent 48 happy years together. We spent our vacations with my parents, Leora and Francis Roesch, in England, Scotland, France, Amsterdam, Germany, Hungary, and Australia. We got to know the world together.
Judy wanted to be a homemaker and was happy as such. She enjoyed reading books, watching movies, and exploring different foods and adventures. Like driving for 60 miles to Carmel, California just to pick up coffee beans, or 70 miles to Mendocino California to have an ice cream cone, or 20 miles on BART to San Francisco to have Dim Sum in Chinatown.
The last four years were hard on her. Because of Parkinson's disease (undiagnosed at the time) she was a fall risk. And every time she fell she broke bones: on separate occasions, left hip, right hip, a knee, and an elbow. These accidents required surgery, hospital stays, and much recover therapy.
As her Parkinson's disease progressed Judy required more and more with simple functions like eating or showering. She deteriorated to the point where she could no long be helped at home. She was placed in Collier Lutheran Hospice in Wheat Ridge, Colorado at 6:00 PM May 1, 2025. She died peacefully at 10:10 PM May 4, 2025.
She will be cremated, as per her request, and interred at Fort Logan National Cemetery.
Judy was my lady, my lover, my friend, and my companion, and is sorely missed. Rest in Peace, Judy.
