
Karen Lee Boswell Lucas went to Heaven January 31, 2026 after an 8 year journey with Alzheimer’s disease. Until the very end, she was full of love, joy and laughter. She loved her family, friends and Elvis and was grateful for all of God's many blessings.
Karen was born on July 2, 1946 in Denver, CO to John Samuel Boswell and Norma Lillian Nelson Boswell. Karen attended Abraham Lincoln High School and graduated in May, 1964. One day, while shopping for high heels for her new job, she met a handsome go-getter salesman named Byron Edmond Lucas, at Burt’s shoe store. She married Byron on July 10, 1965 at Life Temple in Arvada Colorado. They were married for over 50 years, until his death in 2016.
Karen was passionate about Jesus, volunteering at church, her family and especially her 7 Grandsons! She sang in the church choir and was involved in Women’s ministries. She taught Sunday school and held a weekly Bible Study in her home. She loved to cook- her made from scratch pumpkin pies and hot fudge sundaes were world famous! She often told her grandson’s that the 2nd most important decision you make in your life is who you marry! Ask any one of them and they can recite it to this day!! Karen and Byron liked to travel to visit new places, relatives and friends. And they loved to throw dinner parties with enough food to feed a small army.
Karen is survived by her two children-Darin Wayne Edward Lucas and Shanin Lee Lucas Muehlemeyer and her husband Carl Muehlemeyer. Her 7 Grandsons -Jameson Boswell Lucas, Tynan Porter Lucas Muehlemeyer, Alec Edmond Muehlemeyer, Dawson Alexander Lucas, Owen Reid Muehlemeyer, Jak Haltom Lucas and Elijah Pierce Lucas. And 2 Great-Grandchildren- Wyatt Reed Lucas and Annalise Hildegard Lucas. Karen is survived by her 3 sisters- Linda Dee Thomas, Sharon Darlene Lake and Connie Ann Toennis. She also has many, many cousins, nieces and nephews! Karen was preceded in death by her husband Byron and her 5 half-siblings.
The Memorial Service will be held on Saturday February 7, 2026 at Lakewood Nazarene Church at 11am. 1755 Dover St, Lakewood 80215. A Graveside Service will immediately follow at Crown Hill Mortuary and Cemetery. 7777 West 29th Ave, Wheat Ridge, 80229. Luncheon will be served immediately following at the church. All are welcome to join us!
Karen loved family, friends, laughter and good times. Please come help us celebrate her life!
