Kati was predeceased by her parents Mamie Belle Currie Chubb and Walter B Chubb, her sister Esther Marie Chubb and her beloved husband Thomas Allen Moody (1921 - 1993).
She was one of a group of 12 children who started first grade together and graduated from Highland Park High School, still together! She was jr/sr Prom Queen and a scholarship winner. Kati won a green Coca Cola miniature stove in a grade school spelling bee. She graduated from Kansas State in 1941 with a BS in Industrial Journalism. At K-State she was elected to Phi Beta Phi and Mortar Board.
While working in advertising at John Taylor Dept. Store, Kati was invited to a New Year's Eve party by co-worker and friend Betsy Moody. She met her future husband that night. Tom was playing cards in the kitchen in his carpet slippers and put on his shoes to take her home.
Kati and Tom married on February 5, 1950. Tom and Kati went through several careers together, including owning a restaurant, working for a "start-up" food service company (Saga) and owning Moody Music a retail store in the Applewood area. These jobs led them to live in many places throughout their marriage, returning to Colorado in 1970.
Kati’s love for travel began early in life. Her father worked for the Santa Fe Railroad, so the family traveled on passes to Chicago, New York, California and many other U.S. detinations. Later, she saw much of Europe with Karen, Kirk and Rex at different times. In 2004, she traveled with Rev. Paul Brunner and church volunteers to Costa Rica, to help bulid a parsonage. And in 2008, to Southern Italy and Capri with another group from church.
She was a member of Applewood Valley United Methodist Church for 54 years. Through the years, Kati participated in UMW, Women’s Book Study, Bible Study classes, the annual Auction, Dinner Club, making name tags, sending notes to visitors, giving rides to church and serving at AVUMC in many other ways.
Kati enjoyed life and projected that joy to everyone she met. She had many, many friends who loved her dearly. She had a great sense of humor and delivered clever repartee with a mischievous twinkle in her eye.
She is survived by her children and their loved ones: Karen and Greg, Allison and Susan, Kirk and Maryanne, and Rex and Corné; grandchildren Amber and Nate, and Ryan; great grandchildren Allia, Dylan and Lucy; and numerous other relatives.
