Upon birth, Katie had a good strong cry to announce herself to the world. Even then, she can light up the room. We always called her an old soul because she seemed so mature and beyond her years. She was always considerate of others and often would sacrifice her needs for others' benefit. Her laugh was infectious and always found joy in simple things-as a toddler in her bouncy seat laughing in a way that we all laughed with her until it hurt. Katie had an instant friend and confidante in her brother, James, and they were always helping each other. Even at a few months old, Katie was James' partner in crime and even helped James get out of the crib to escape when they were less than a year old. She was protective over her brother and, despite all the sibling rivalry, showed her support and love in so many ways. She enjoyed tennis, skiing, surfing, a broad spectrum of music that ranged from Classical, Rat Pack to Latin music and beyond. She loved Hawaii and everything about the beach. She loved art, learning new languages, was interested in robotics, engineering, and also wanted to help others by becoming a nurse. She was so easy to please when it came to food-Filipino food, Burger King, Raliberto's, Subway, and had an obsession with oranges.
Turning into a teen was not easy for her and she felt isolated from friends and family during COVID. She had tried many ways to cope through her pain and sadness and we often talked about all of the fun activities we've done and looked forward for other planned activities to come.
She was always thankful for her family and her friends and never forgot to show her gratitude. We have been blessed that she was in our lives and we will forever be grateful that she was in it. She had often turned to God in her times of need and we are comforted to know she is with Him and is at peace. We have received messages from her grade school in central California, Oberon, and AWest and have seen the impact she has left and know that she would have led a wonderful life.
