Leota Florence Hettinger, 100, was born in Burlington, CO, the daughter of Carl and Mae Broman, and sister to Vivian Petersen, Violet Wiscamb, and Dale Broman.
Her family moved to Lakewood, CO when she was 7 years old. She married Hank Hettinger at the age of 23 and together they moved into their home in Lakewood where she remained until the age of 93. She then lived independently at Eaton Senior Communities in Lakewood until the age of 100. Her family appreciates the kind care she received at Eaton Communities and in her final weeks at MorningStar Assisted living at Jordan, Centennial, CO.
Leota was preceded in death by her husband, Henry (Hank) Hettinger. She is survived by her children Robert (Wendy), Ronald (Ann), and Jana (Darrell) Jones; her grandchildren, Kate (Jones) Furrow, Kelly (Jones) Porter, Sarah (Hettinger) Gass, and Laura (Hettinger) Panczak; and her great grandsons Hudson Gass and Talon Smith.
Leota was a giving, loving, and devoted wife and mother who always expressed a kind and positive attitude and seldomly spoke a bad word. She had many wonderful friends that remained with her throughout her life. She enjoyed the outdoors, and went on many camping trips throughout the United States with her husband, Hank. She was very active in the Lakewood United Methodist Church, and unselfishly volunteered her time to many causes including the United Methodist Women in Faith and the Philanthropic Educational Organization known as P.E.O.
She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Celebration of Life Saturday, April 29th at 2:00PM at Lakewood United Methodist Church, 1390 Brentwood St., Lakewood, CO 80214.
